Welcome to Ms. Truttman's Web Page

Welcome Back!  This year will be my 11th year at YHS and I'm excited to get to know or get reacquainted with the heart of Yreka High School -- Miner students.  I am teaching United States history, advanced placement United States history and American government.

My teaching philosophy is guided by a firm belief that every individual is unique and offers something extraordinary to the world.  I endeavor to create a learning environment that will provide both a safe place for students to explore their capabilities and encourage them to reach their full potential.

Students will be challenged to take responsibility for their own learning through reading and writing assignments, creative projects, lectures and discussions. We will be studying United States history and American the lens of six different, interconnected themes. This thematic approach to our nation's history will allow students to recognize historical connections to the world we live in today.  Twelfth grade students will student American government in order to become active, responsible citizens in our democracy.

I look forward to having a great year and getting to know students and parents.
